What a finish in Gothenburg!

Denmark closed the gap to Sweden to one point with a minute to go thanks to Mikkel Hansen. After a time-out, Sweden went on the attack and after Lukas Sandell had a goal ruled out, Oscar Bergendahl did find the net for the hosts to end any hopes of a Danish comeback.

I am really pleased with our performance today. In the first half, we played very well in defence and with a lot of variety in attack. We got a tough start in the second half and were three goals behind, but we really showed good morale when we turned it around and won.

Sweden coach

We knew that in Latvian handball changes are happening. They have changed coach and their style. Latvia does not have big stars in the team, but the team were competitive and tough, especially in the first half. In the second half, we played better in both offence and defence. We have had two games and we came out with two victories. Everything is done perfectly and we are looking forward to games against France. We know they are favourites in our group, but we are trying to do our best.

We chose the hard way today. In the beginning, we played very well and had a lead of four goals until the Belgians traded their goalkeeper for an extra player. That caused us a lot of problems. They scored easily and their goalkeeper played a good game. Until the end of the match, we had to fight for it. We managed to win this match without character.

Croatia coach

All over in our first two EHF EURO 2024 Qualifiers and it is the home teams that triumph.

Belgium 27:30 Croatia

The home side were chasing hard at the end, but Croatia stopper Dominik Kuzmanovic pulled off two huge saves, before Željko Musa went up the other end and put the result out of doubt.

Lithuania 26:27 Switzerland

Lithuania pushed the Swiss hard throughout the second half, and while they were able to close to within a point, they couldn't find a late equaliser, and the visitors ran the clock down to claim victory.

There's sharp finishes, and then there is this effort from Switzerland's Lenny Rubin

All over and it is a second win from two for the Czech Republic. Matej Klima led the way for the victors with seven goals from seven shots. Israel's Yoav Lumbroso was not far behind with six goals of his own.

Israel 19:29 Czech Republic.

A cheeky lobbed penalty by Latvia's number 2 Nikita Pancenko brings the scoring to an end in the first half and just for good measure keeper Edgards Kuksa pulls off an impressive save to keep his team in contention.

Latvia 9:13 Poland
