Bosnia Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina enter their third straight EHF EURO and their fourth major competition in their history after participating at the 2015 IHF Men's World Championship, EHF EURO 2020 and EHF EURO 2022.

They are coming to the final tournament with their new head coach, Irfan Smajlagic. The legendary former Croatian player took over the helm in September 2022, succeeding Ivica Obrvan who left the team a couple of days before qualification for the 2023 IHF Men's World Handball Championship. After failing to qualify, Bosnia and Herzegovina entered a new era with Smajlagic.

With Smajlagic debuting in his new job right ahead of the qualifications for the EHF EURO 2024, Bosnia and Herzegovina struggled in the first matches against Montenegro and Slovenia, but they made a significant step forward in the rematches and with two convincing wins against Kosovo they finished second in group 7.

The 'Dragons' will once again rely on their most experienced players such as goalkeeper Benjamin Buric, his twin brother Senjamin on the line, Marko Panic and Mirsad Terzic. Still, there are a good number of younger players who are gaining experience in strong European clubs and also in the domestic league. That mixture could be Bosnia and Herzegovina's main force in a strong group with Sweden, the Netherlands and Georgia.

Still waiting for their first-ever win at the EHF EURO, Bosnia and Herzegovina are eager to make that happen and to top their two previous results at the European championship – 23rd place.
