Montenegro (MNE)

The Golden Lions reached the EHF EURO 2022 main round for the first time in Montenegro's history under the previous coach, Zoran Roganovic. They finished 11th, a record-high ranking at the European championships, and followed that up with an 18th-place finish at the 2023 IHF Men's World Championship.

However, Roganovic's tenure came to an end after the World Championship and the results in the EHF EURO 2024 Qualifiers did not go to plan, as they lost three of their last four matches. But, they still successfully booked a place at EHF EURO 2024 under the newly-appointed Vlado Sola after they finished as one of the best-ranked third-placed teams.

The Montenegro squad is a perfect example of experience and youth, with the likes of goalkeeper Nebojsa Simic, left wing Milos Vujovic and right back Branko Vujovic now joined by centre backs Radojica Cepic and Vasilje Kaludjerovic as well as right wing Luka Radovic who are eager to stake a claim on the international stage.

At the EHF EURO 2024 Montenegro are drawn in group C alongside Iceland, Hungary and neighbours Serbia. It will be a tough challenge for the Golden Lions, but they will certainly bring passion and the support of plenty of enthusiastic fans.
