Göppingen secure maiden EHF Finals Men berth
Former EHF Cup winners Frisch Auf Göppingen will try to claim yet another trophy at the EHF Finals Men 2023 in May in Flensburg, after the German side booked their ticket with a 31:27 win at RK Nexe in the second leg of the EHF European League Men quarter-finals on Tuesday. That result sent Göppingen through with a 13-goal overall victory, 63:50.
It is always nice to play against a Croatian team. We knew we had an advantage of nine goals from the first game and we controlled the match from the first minute. Tonight we deserved to win.
We always have to do our best and today the opponents were better. I regret the previous game because I don't think we deserved that kind of defeat, and tonight we wanted to win. The opponents played very good handball for the entire 60 minutes and took advantage of every mistake of ours. We had a great desire to enter the EHF Finals but, unfortunately, we did not succeed.
