Montenegro (MNE)
Montenegro hope their sixth EHF EURO will bring them to the main round for the first time. After finishing 12th, then three times 16th and most recently 18th in 2020, Montenegro want to take a step further at EHF EURO 2022.
Coach Zoran Roganovic, who took over in August 2018, plans to reach the desired goal with a new, different style of play. In the almost-all Balkan group A, adding Denmark to Slovenia and North Macedonia, Montenegro will try to take advantage of knowing their opponents.
The Montenegrin squad has good individuals with experience of playing at EHF EUROs and exciting matches. They proved that already in qualification group 8, winning three out of six matches and finishing second behind Sweden.
Montenegro boast a good defensive line with Nebojsa Simic between the posts to guard it, and an effective attack with players like the young Kielce right back Branko Vujovic, and experienced left backs Vasko Sevaljevic and Miloš Božovic. Together, they want to prove that the main round is a possibility and a best-ever finish is on the cars.

Key Players
Left back
Miloš Božović was the second-best scorer for Montenegro at EHF EURO 2018. He is an experienced player with 27 international caps ahead of EHF EURO 2022. Božovic joined Ivry for the 2021/22 season from Tatabanya; he previously played for PPD Zagreb, Gorenje Velenje, Valladolid, Ciudad Real and Budvanska Rivijera.
Right back
Branko Vujovic made his national team debut in 2015 in the EHF EURO 2016 qualifiers, and played his first major tournament at EHF EURO 2020 – featuring in two of Montenegro’s three matches. He spent two years on loan to Celje, returning to Kielce for 2019/20. Vujovic will join TSV Hannover-Burgdorf on a three-year deal in summer 2022, however, he still remains under contract with Kielce until 2027.
Head Coach
Coach
Zoran Roganovic took over the helm of the national team in 2018 from Dragan Djukic; this is his second EHF EURO in charge. Roganovic is a former Montenegro national team player and the all-time best scorer of the Swedish league. He spent 15 years playing in Sweden, becoming a household name before retiring at the age of 41. Roganovic began his coaching career at former club Lugi HF, before taking over Eskilstuna Gulf in 2019.
